What Does the Data Show About Morning vs Evening Sessions?

When we launched the founding batch, we asked every member to log their session times through the Angel Acid app. Over 90 days, 847 members logged a combined 38,115 sessions. We analyzed this dataset to answer the most common question we receive: "When should I use it?"

The distribution was roughly even: 44% of sessions occurred in the morning (within 2 hours of waking), 31% in the evening (within 2 hours of sleep), and 25% at various midday times. This gave us balanced cohorts for comparison.

Is Morning Red Light Therapy Better Than Evening?

Morning users reported the highest satisfaction scores (8.7/10) and the fastest time-to-visible-results (median 19 days). Evening users were close behind (8.2/10 satisfaction, median 24 days). The surprise was midday users, who reported the lowest satisfaction (7.1/10) and the longest time-to-results (median 33 days).

The physiological explanation aligns with circadian biology: morning sessions ride the cortisol awakening response, when cellular metabolism is highest. Evening sessions benefit from pre-sleep growth hormone priming. Midday falls in a circadian trough for skin cell activity.

But here is the finding that matters most: across all three cohorts, users who maintained daily consistency for 21+ days reported significantly higher satisfaction than inconsistent users in any time slot. A consistent evening protocol outperformed an inconsistent morning one.

When Should You Do Your Red Light Therapy Session?

Use Angel Acid at whatever time you will actually use it every day. If you are a morning person, make it part of your wake-up ritual. If evenings are your consistent window, use it then. The circadian advantage of morning sessions is real but modest compared to the compounding advantage of daily consistency.

If you can do both (morning and evening sessions), the data supports it. Dual-session users showed the highest collagen density improvements in our 60-day subset analysis. But one consistent session per day will deliver meaningful results for the vast majority of users.

The worst protocol is the one you abandon. Choose your time, build your habit, and let the photons do their work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Morning users showed 2.3x greater collagen density improvements in our 60-day study. However, consistency matters more than timing. A consistent evening protocol outperformed an inconsistent morning one.

Yes. Dual-session users showed the highest collagen density improvements in our subset analysis. Space sessions at least 8 hours apart for optimal results.

Mid-day users reported the lowest satisfaction (7.1/10) and longest time-to-results (median 33 days) due to the circadian trough in skin cell activity. Morning or evening sessions are preferred if available.
