Accessibility

Where we stand, what still falls short, and how to reach a person if something blocks you.

Angel Acid is committed to making this store usable by everyone, regardless of ability. This statement sets out plainly where we currently meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, where we do not yet, and what we are doing about it. We would rather publish an honest gap than an inaccurate claim.

Keyboard Navigation

Controls are built as native buttons, links and inputs so they respond to Tab, Enter, Space and Escape, and a visible focus ring shows where you are. An automated check blocks any control that is hidden from view but still reachable by Tab.

Screen Readers

Semantic HTML structure, ARIA labelling and descriptive alt text are applied throughout. Structured testing with screen readers has not been carried out yet — see Known gaps below.

Reduced Motion

We respect prefers-reduced-motion. Animations, parallax effects and auto-playing content are disabled when that preference is set.

Colour & Contrast

Text on the purchase path meets the 4.5:1 AA minimum for body text, enforced automatically on every change. Contrast on the rest of the site is still being brought up to that level.

Responsive Design

Fully responsive from 320px up to large desktop displays, with layouts that reflow rather than requiring horizontal scrolling.

3D Content

Our 3D product viewers require WebGL. When it is unavailable, static image fallbacks are provided automatically.

Conformance status

Partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA

"Partially conformant" means some parts of this website do not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are not claiming full conformance and will not do so until the gaps listed below are closed and independently verified.

How this was assessed

This is a self-assessment by our own development team, supported by automated checks that run on every change to the site. Those checks measure text colour contrast on the purchase path and fail the build if a control is hidden from view but still reachable by keyboard. This site has not been audited by an external accessibility body, and we have not yet completed structured manual testing with screen readers. When we do, this statement will name the software, the versions and the date.

Known gaps

Colour contrast. Text on the purchase path — home, product, cart and checkout — now meets the 4.5:1 minimum for body text. A substantial number of instances elsewhere, mostly secondary and supporting text on editorial and marketing pages, still fall below it. These are being worked through in priority order.
Screen-reader testing. We have not yet completed structured testing with the major screen readers. Semantic HTML, ARIA labelling and alt text are applied throughout, but they have not been verified end to end against real assistive technology, so we do not claim screen-reader support.
3D product viewers. Our WebGL product viewers are hard to convey through assistive technology. Static image fallbacks appear automatically when WebGL is unavailable, and every product detail is also available as text, so no purchase decision depends on the 3D view.
Third-party content. The payment step is rendered by Stripe and review content is supplied by Trustpilot. We do not control their markup and cannot guarantee their conformance, though we report barriers to them when we find them.

Standards and legal basis

We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced by EN 301 549 and by the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882), which has applied since 28 June 2025. The structure of this statement follows the model recommended by the W3C.
